Discover how during the Kofun and Asuka Periods of Japanese history, or from the 4th to 7th centuries A.D., the people of Japan gleaned knowledge and culture from the Asian continent.


* IN SECTION 2
Origins of an Ancient Realm


Find out how Giant keyhole shaped burial mounds, or tumuli, were built at various sites during the Kofun Period of Japanese history( from the 4th and 6th centuries A.D.).
And how the leaders who supervised the building of those monuments made provisions for the formation of their ancient realm.

Modern Science and our Cultural Heritage


Learn how archaeologists use the latest scientific methods and technology to restore and preserve burial mounds, the buildingsites, and other ancient artifacts.
