What's CHIKATSU-ASUKA...
The place name Chikatsu Asuka is recorded in Kojiki -compiled in 712A.D. The step-brother of the Emperor Richu (who became the Emperor Hanzei later) named the near place Chikatsu Asuka, the farther one Totsu Asuka, when he stayed there on the way from Naniwa in Osaka prefecture to the Isonokami Shrine in Nara prefecture.
Chikatsu Asuka mainly indicates around Asuka, Habikino city in Osaka prefecture, and the Totsu Asuka means Asuka village in Nara prefecture.
Chikatu Asuka is along the Takenouchi of ancient offical road that links Naniwa bay , or Osaka bay, and Totsu Asuka. Around there spread out a crowd of tumuli made in the age from the 5th to 7th centuries A.D.
At time, many people who had come from Korean peninsula and Chinese continent lived in this place near here.
