The Spring '98 Special Exhibition:

The HISTORY ART WORK in CHIKATSU ASUKA - The HISTORY SHAPES
CHIKATSU ASUKA STUDIO - "PEOPLE and SHAPES - The PAST and the FUTURE."

This spring the theme is "shapes."

Have you ever seen patterns or shapes in the clouds that float across the sky?
Or ever thought about why you see them?
All things have shapes that we humans can perceive through our five senses.
Haven't you ever thought it strange how we do this?
How we perceive the shapes of things natural?
Such as snow crystals? Or maple leaves?
Or how we percive man-made shapes?
Like roofs of houses? Or kitchen utensils?
Some shapes change in the course of time. Other shapes almost never do.
How did the around us take on the shapes they posses?
Do they have to have those shapes?
What are the reasons for this?
This exhibition has to do with the perceptible shapes of things that were made during the Kofun and Asuka periods of Japanese history. In these things of old we may be able to see things of our day and age.
What can we find out? What will we be able to see?
These authentic looking replicas to use for this exhibition were made at this studio.
And now, you'll be able to see how we made them.

Now take your time and enjoy the strange world of shape making.
